School District 128 Student Wins Membean Root Challenge

Seven Independence students participated in the Membean Root Challenge where they had to use specific roots, prefixes, and suffixes, to create their own pseudoword and compose their pseudoword in an original sentence. This was a national contest where other junior highs, high schools, and colleges submitted their psuedowords where there were only five first place winners and ten honorable mention winners from across the United States. Cayla Prohaska’s pseudoword, sesociomorphise, which means to change due to a pandemic, won honorable mention, and she received a $50.00 Amazon gift card for her efforts!
