Emotional Wellbeing & Safety

Emotional Wellbeing & Safety

  • The “Warm Line” hotline (Monday - Friday 8am-5pm) (866) 359-7953
    • The Warm Line in Illinois is for persons with mental health and/or substance use challenges and their families to receive support by phone. Wellness Support Specialists are professionals who have experienced mental health and/or substance use recovery in their own lives. They have been trained in recovery support, mentoring, and advocacy and are ready to listen and support you. The Warm Line is not a crisis hotline, but is a source of support as you recover or help a family member to recover.
  • IL CARES Crisis Hotline (800) 345-9049
    • The 24 hour Crisis and Referral Entry Services (CARES) line allows access to speak with a mental health professional if your child is at risk to themselves or others, having a mental health crisis, or if you would like a referral to services for children, youth, and families. If intervention is warranted a crisis worker will arrive at the location of the youth in crisis and conduct an assessment.
  • South Suburban Family Shelter Hotline (708) 335-3028
    • Shelter services for individuals and families experiencing domestic violence.
  • Run Away Youth Crisis Intervention Line (708) 679-8100
    • Serviced by Aunt Martha’s Health & Wellness. Aunt Martha’s crisis intervention team provides crisis intervention for run-away, locked out, homeless and ungovernable youth. The team is on call 24 hours a day, every day of the year. They conduct an immediate assessment of the facts leading to the crisis and decide whether the youth can return home safely or be temporarily housed elsewhere.
  • The Trevor Project Help Line: 1-866-488-7386 or Text START to 678-678
    • The Trevor Project is the leading national organization providing crisis intervention and suicide prevention services to lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer & questioning (LGBTQ) young people under 25.

These resources will provide you with tangible tips to support your student with grief & loss, but as well (at the bottom of this resource) how to support your child coping with overall changes due to COVID-19.
